A case study from Sam Taggart

How I helped Chris Hill take Brightside Windows from $6M to $20M in two years

Chris called me in 2022. He was already at $6 million and stuck. By the time we wrapped, Brightside Windows was the exclusive window remodeler for the Portland Timbers AND the Trailblazers, and revenue had tripled. I’m going to walk you through exactly what I did with him.

Portland, Oregon · Windows remodeling · Engaged 2022 to 2024 · Programs I ran with him: Private Consulting + Circle + Bootcamp

The short version. Chris Hill owns Brightside Windows out of Portland. He was doing $6M a year when he hired me in 2022. I put him into Private Consulting — that’s my one-on-one product — plus the Circle mastermind, plus the Bootcamp. Two years later he was at $20M and had locked down brand deals with the Timbers and the Blazers. That’s the headline. The rest of this page is me showing you the work.

$6M → $20M

The revenue ladder I walked Chris up from 2022 to 2024 while we ran Private Consulting, Circle, and the Bootcamp at the same time.

3.3x

Revenue multiple over two years on my watch. Roughly $14M in net-new revenue added to the business while we were working together.

Where Chris was when he called me

Chris Hill came to me in 2022 sitting at $6 million in revenue. Now most consultants would look at that and go “freaking dope, you made it.” I looked at it and said, “OK, what’s the next zero?” Because that’s the question Chris was actually asking. He’d hit the ceiling every owner I work with eventually hits. He had reps making money. He had crews installing. He had marketing running. What he didn’t have was a plan to double, then double again. Six million is not twenty million. And Chris had decided he wanted twenty.

So I told him what I tell every owner at that stage. Here’s the deal. If we’re doing this, we’re doing it for real. You’re not just buying a coach. You’re going to let me into the org chart, the hiring engine, the close rate, the install pipeline, the marketing spend, the leadership cadence. Every line item. I get to push on every decision you’ve been postponing. Are you in?

He was in.

What I actually did with him — the three programs, stacked

I put Chris on what I call the deep stack. Three programs, all running at the same time. Private Consulting is the spine — that’s me, one on one, working on Chris and the calls only he can make. Circle is the mastermind — that’s me putting Chris in a room with seven other owners running $10M, $30M, $50M businesses across adjacent verticals so he could pressure-test his decisions against guys who’d already been where he was going. Bootcamp is the curriculum I run for his sales floor — because if the field can’t carry the weight, every dollar of marketing and every hour of coaching drips out the bottom of the funnel.

Three angles, same target. That’s the recipe. Let me walk you through what each one actually looked like.

Private Consulting: the calls I made Chris make

This is the part most owners don’t want to talk about. The work isn’t telling Chris something brand new. The work is forcing the decisions he’d been postponing. I’ll be honest with you, that’s 80% of consulting at this level. The owner already knows. They just need somebody in the room willing to make them do it.

I’ll give you a few examples without breaking the room. I made him hire the second installer crew before the next storm season instead of after. I made him cut the marketing spend that was running to the wrong zip codes. I made him build the recruiting funnel before he needed it instead of when he was already short. I made him move the manager who wasn’t moving the team — and I made him do it on a Tuesday, not “after Q4.” Each one of those calls felt heavy in the moment. Each one of those calls is the difference between $6M and $20M. Does that make sense?

Circle: the eight other owners watching his back

Here’s the thing about being a $6M owner. You don’t actually have peers anymore. Your reps think you’re rich. Your friends from before don’t get the scale. Your wife is tired of hearing about install ratios. Circle is the room I run where eight to twelve owners at Chris’s level or above meet on a cadence and pressure-test each other’s decisions. I’m in there too. Every meeting Chris walked into, somebody handed him a problem he was about to hit, already solved. That’s the cheat code.

Bootcamp: dialing in the field

You can have the best owner in America and the smartest strategy in the world — if your reps can’t sell, none of it matters. I ran Chris’s reps through the Bootcamp curriculum so the field could carry the weight that consulting and Circle were pushing downstream. Tighter pitches. Cleaner closes. Better install ratios. That’s how the $14M in net-new revenue actually showed up on the bank statement instead of just on the whiteboard.

The Timbers, the Trailblazers, and the text he sent me

Somewhere in the middle of our engagement, Chris texted me a screenshot. Brightside had just been named the exclusive and official window remodeler of the Portland Timbers. A few weeks later the Trailblazers signed too. Two pro sports franchises in the same market, both choosing Chris’s company. He sent it to me before he sent it to his marketing team.

I sent back the only thing that fit:

“Soooo freaking cool my man. You deserve it my man.”

That’s how I know the work is sticking. When an owner texts me a brand partnership at the same time he texts his wife, that tells me everything. The relationship isn’t a contract. It’s a friendship that happens to ship results. That’s what Private Consulting actually is when it’s done right. If you want to see more of what working with me looks like, the full case study index lives here.

Why I stacked all three on Chris

Let me do some simple math for a second. Most owners come to me for one program. Chris ran three at the same time. Why? Because the business needed three angles addressed in parallel and I wasn’t willing to take two years to fix one at a time. Here’s the breakdown:

Private Consulting is me working on the owner

The decisions only Chris could make. The hires only Chris could approve. The conversations only Chris could have. That’s the work I did one on one with him. Brightside got the rare 1:1 access tier — that’s why this case study exists. It’s the deepest engagement I run, and the most expensive thing I sell, on purpose.

Circle is me putting him next to his peers

Eight other owners running real businesses, sitting in the same room, every meeting handing him a problem he was about to hit, already solved. Chris stopped reinventing the wheel two doors down. The compounding shows up in the operating choices, not just the morale.

Bootcamp is me training his reps

If the field can’t carry it, the marketing budget and the leadership work both drip out the bottom of the funnel. Bootcamp catches everything the consulting and the strategy push downstream. That’s where the actual dollars showed up.

That’s the math behind 3.3x in two years. One angle of work compounds. Three angles aimed at the same goal compound a lot faster. Does that make sense?

Want me to run the same stack on your business?

If you’re past $5M and you’ve decided to push for the next zero, Private Consulting is the spine. Apply and we’ll talk through whether I’m the right guy for it.

Things people ask me about this one

How long did you run Private Consulting with Chris?

Two years. Engagement started in 2022 at $6M and we wrapped the main work in 2024 at $20M. That’s on the longer end of how I run these. Most owners stay in 12 to 24 months because the decisions get sharper the longer you’re in the room. Chris’s revenue ladder is a clean case for why you don’t want to bounce after twelve months.

Do you only do this for window companies?

Not even close. I run Private Consulting across solar, roofing, pest, alarms, telecom, satellite, fiber, turf — basically every home-services vertical there is. Brightside happened to be in windows. The decisions an owner has to make at $6M look almost identical across verticals. The vertical-specific work is the smaller share of what I’m doing.

Do I need to be at $5M to work with you?

Not strictly. But here’s the honest truth — Private Consulting earns its fee fastest at companies that already have product-market fit and are stuck on the operating gap between $5M and $25M. Below that range, Bootcamp or Circle alone often returns more per dollar. Apply and I’ll tell you straight up what tier fits where you actually are.

What’s the difference between Private Consulting and Circle?

Private Consulting is one on one. You and me, building the playbook for your specific business. Circle is a small group of owners who meet on a recurring cadence, share what’s working, and pressure-test each other. They’re designed to stack. Chris ran both because the 1:1 fixed his calls and Circle gave him eight peers watching his back.

How much of Chris’s week did this actually take?

A few hours a week plus a working session cadence we set together. I’ll tell you what I told him — the owners who 3x in two years are the ones who treat the engagement like the most important meeting on their calendar. The ones who slot it in around everything else don’t get the same outcome. Chris ran it as a priority. The numbers reflect that.

How do I apply?

Hit any of the buttons on this page or head to the Services page. Tell me where the business is today, where you want it in 24 months, and what’s keeping you up at night. If it’s a fit on both sides, we’ll get on a call and scope an engagement.

$20M doesn’t happen by accident

Chris ran the stack. I made the calls. The numbers followed. If you’re ready to do the same, the door is open. Don’t be a fence sitter.
